Do we have access to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (DNB) online?

Answer

The DNB online is not included in the RCA's collection, but nearly all UK public libraries offer access. Some international libraries also offer access so if you are outside the UK it is best to check with your public library service.

If you are already a member of your local public library go to the DNB homepage https://www.oxforddnb.com/

You may already be signed in as a Royal College of Art student. On the left hand side, click 'Sign in to an additional subscriber account'.

Login boxes on the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography websiteUnder 'Sign in with your library card' enter your public library card number into the bottom box to gain access.

If you are not already a public library member, you can join Kensington and Chelsea libraries online for free: https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/libraries/connect-library-community/join-library. After completing the online form, you will receive a library card number that you can immediately use to log in to the DNB.

Alternatively, you can look up your local service online - https://www.gov.uk/local-library-services.
