Can I use the British Library’s reference collections and reading rooms while I am a student at the RCA?

Answer

**As of October 2023 the British Library has been targeted by a cyber attack, which has affected their website and some services. Their reading rooms are still open and you can register for a temporary reader pass if you are new. Please see  https://www.bl.uk/ for more information.**

You can get a Reader pass to use the British Library by taking your student ID and some proof of your address to the Admissions desk there. It is quicker if you pre-register before your visit. See www.bl.uk/reshelp/inrrooms/stp/register/stpregister.

When visiting the reading rooms, you will also need to tell the staff what it is you want to look at, so check the catalogue first.
